Kevin James

Senior Osteopath / Clinical Supervisor, Advanced Sports Osteopath

Kevin graduated as an Osteopath with Distinction from RMIT University in 2016, after retiring from his career as an elite gymnast with an AIS scholarship (Australian Institute of Sport). His experience living with pain and injury led him to dive deeper into understanding how to exam, diagnose, treat, manage and prevent pain and injuries. His past experiences in sports, and further training led him to be one of the first Osteopaths in Australia to achieve the Advanced Sports Osteopath title, awarded by Osteopathy Australia’s multidisciplinary review panel of health practitioners in early 2020.

Kevin demonstrates an industry recognised advanced scope of practice, completion of extensive further education in sports medicine and sports science, and clinical competency in movement, performance, physical function, and musculoskeletal health.

Kevin believes everyone deserves high-quality care. His interest is in treating all areas of the body, and in particularly pain that effects function in the neck (headaches), shoulders, back, hips, knees, and foot. He enjoys treating a wide range of acute sporting injuries and has a passion for help those living with complex persistent pain. He uses several treatment techniques depending on the conditions from education about the condition, symptom management, hands on therapy, stress reduction, through to individualised exercise rehabilitation, exercise supervision, skill performance, psychological strategies, and lifestyle recommendations. He is a master at listening, motivating, individualising care, and helping people move better again.

Kevin enjoys giving back to the community. He is a Clinical Educator (Lecturer/Tutor) and Clinical Supervisor at RMIT University, Data Analyst at University of South Australia (Pain Revolution) and Pain Australia, is involved in the education, development and accreditation of High-Performance coaches and athletes at a state, national and international level and is involved in multiple sporting committees. During his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his wife, surfing, walking/relaxing on the beach, reading research, and meeting new people.
